Holy Communion
2nd and 4th Sunday of every month
Holy Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist, is celebrated in response to Jesus’ words at the Last Supper: “Do this in remembrance of me.”
It is one of the most important acts of Christian worship. During the service, the priest blesses bread and wine and shares them with the congregation. Christians believe that Christ is truly present with us in Holy Communion. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, the bread and wine become for us a sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ. As we receive them, we are drawn closer to God and to one another as members of Christ’s Church.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the service. If you have been baptised, you are welcome to receive Holy Communion. If you have not been baptised, please still come forward. The priest will be pleased to offer you a blessing instead.
Some of the language used in Communion can sound surprising to those who are unfamiliar with Christianity. Jesus spoke about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, and his words puzzled many people in his own time. Christians understand these words as expressing a deep spiritual union with Christ. Morning Prayer
1st and 3rd Sunday of every month
Morning Prayer is a peaceful service centred on Scripture, prayer and worship. Unlike Holy Communion, there is no sharing of bread and wine. Instead, we gather to sing hymns, pray together and listen to readings from the Bible.
It is an opportunity to pause from the busyness of daily life, spend time with God, and reflect on the message of Scripture. Through these prayers and readings, we seek to draw closer to God, deepen our faith and open ourselves to God’s guidance.
Morning Prayer is led by trained lay ministers. These are members of the church community who have received special training to lead worship and support the ministry of our parish priest.
Everyone is welcome to join us, whether you are a regular churchgoer, exploring the Christian faith for the first time, or simply looking for a space for prayer, reflection and peace.
