Hospital Visits

Illness and hospital stays can be difficult and uncertain times, both for those receiving treatment and for the family and friends who care about them. Whether a stay in hospital is planned or unexpected, many people find comfort in prayer, conversation and spiritual support during these challenging moments.

At St Michael and All Angels, we are happy to visit parishioners and others within our Local Ministry Area while they are in hospital. Whether you would like someone to pray with you, talk through your worries, share Holy Communion, or simply sit and listen, our priest is here to offer support and encouragement.

A hospital visit can be an opportunity to speak openly about fears, hopes and questions, or simply to spend a few moments in quiet prayer. There is no expectation and no pressure. Some people find great comfort in sharing their faith, while others simply appreciate knowing that someone is praying for them and walking alongside them during a difficult time.

If requested, the priest can also offer Holy Communion or the Ministry of Anointing, particularly for those facing serious illness, treatment, surgery or a lengthy recovery. These ministries remind us that God’s love and presence remain with us even in times of weakness, uncertainty and pain.

Family members are also welcome to ask for prayer and support. Illness affects not only the patient but often those closest to them, and the Church is here to care for the whole family.
